Coconut Industry of Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is the fourth-largest exporter of coconut products to the international market and is blessed with a climate that ensures an around year of harvesting. The most popular Sri Lankan coconut products which are exported to the global market are desiccated coconut, virgin coconut oil, coconut water and fiber. Coconut accounts for approximately 12% of all agricultural production in Sri Lanka with the total land area under cultivation covering 409, 244 hectares (2017) and about 2,500 -3000 million nuts produced per year as at 2017. New measures have been introduced to enhance the annual coconut crop to 3600 million nuts per year.

DC Coconut Fine

Very fine grains of desiccated coconut are made of disintegrated and dehydrated coconut kernel or pulp, after removing the brown testa or parings but without oil extractions. The process of preparation involves initial sterilization by washing in boiling water, followed by disintegrating or shredding and ultimately drying at 60–75 °C to a moisture level of less than 2.5%.

It’s crispy, snow-white in color and has a sweet, pleasant and fresh taste of coconut. DC has healthy, saturated fat free of cholesterol and contains selenium, fiber, copper and manganese.

Usage DC coconut fine is used as fillers inside Chocolate bars, Biscuits, Toffees & Chocolate. DC is used by the Bakery Industry and Frozen Food industry for Cake decorations, Snacks and Ice Cream.

Storage, Shelf life & Packing The dry coconut can be stored in air-tight containers and could be kept in room temperature for around six months. Refrigeration or freezing will keep it for up to a year.



Coconut Chips

A help to satisfy your sudden cravings with the perfect balance of taste and nutrition, coconut chips are made from creamy coconut flesh with removed moisture, baked with coconut blossom nectar until they transform into crunchy heaven. These are best used to decorate cakes, pies and confectionaries, which can be toasted for added texture in both savory and sweet recipes.

Coconut Smilies

Coconut Smilies are strips of organic coconut, dried very slowly without any additives, sweeteners or preservatives. During the drying process, the chunks of coconut curl up into a “smile.” Coconut smilies are dried at very low temperatures — never exceeding 115 degrees. That way, the drying process is completed without sacrificing the nutrients by overheating. Coconut smilies area happy, healthy tropical food that is a great edition to your snack pantry.

Coconut Chiplets

Toasted Coconut Chips - Sweetened

Toasted coconut chips are low carb, keto friendly and paleo friendly. Coconut Cream

Coconut cream is the pure natural extract of fresh, mature coconut meat and is much thicker and richer than coconut milk. Coconut Cream is made from simmering four parts of shredded coconut to one part of water. No preservatives or artificial flavoring added and has 24% fat content. Mild non-sweet taste.

Coconut Sugar
